Summer Sewing Programs

June 8th - September 15th 2020

Registration for our Summer Progams 2020 is now available. We will be following strict COV-19 guidelines, which will include limited registration (10 students max), social distancing, the requirement of wearing of masks/ facial covering and CDC directed guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting throughout the day.

Join us for some creative fun! You can learn to sew or improve on your current sewing skills. Our summer sewing camp sessions are open to kids ages 7+ we have a great variety of projects like beach outfits and accessories, stuffed animals, bags and backpacks, infinity scarves, quilts and more.  Fashion design and construction are popular options for experienced students!
ALL experience levels are welcome at camp. Our friendly and experienced staff can work with beginners and sewing enthusiasts alike to make sure everyone has a good time and is proud of their work! Scroll down for a more detailed description of a typical camp day.
We are currently only allowing FULL DAY (9am-4pm) FULL WEEK options for camp up until September 4th.
How are we keeping your little ones safe and healthy?  In accordance to the CDC guidelines, we have added appropriate PPE, extra staff members  to conduct regular cleaning/disinfecting of utensils and surfaces throughout the day.  Unfortunately, due to these added expenses we have had to add a 20% cost increase. The safety and health of your family members and our staff are out TOP PRIORITY.  Please view our new studio set-up and added safety measures here.
Unfortunately, we will NOT be able to offer Early drop off or Late pick up this summer.  This will allow our staff the additional time needed to thoroughly clean and disinfect the studio.

A Typical Day at HipStitch Camp:

9:00AM-9.30 AM Orientation. Campers are shown where the tools are in the studio, camp safety rules, how to thread the machine, and what the choices of projects are based on their skill level and experience. Beginners will choose some simple projects like pillows, bags, and basic stuffed animals to improve their new skills and bolster their confidence! Students with prior sewing experience decide what their first project will be (either from their own imagination or with guidance from our curriculum sheet).

12:30 pm-1:00 pm: LUNCH time (in the studio)  Please send your child with a PACKED LUNCH. We will be unable to leave the studio to purchase lunch this summer)
2:00 pm-2.30 pm: SNACK time (in the studio)  Please send your child with a PACKED SNACK or money to purchase gelato or other snack from Laroma and will sit outside on our picnic tables when weather allows. The teacher will purchase the snack for the group and bring it back to the studio to limit contact in a public place.
As students build on their sewing skills, we at HipStitch like to allow a good amount of freedom in the creative process. Our system has been likened to a "No Fail Curriculum" in schools.  Sewing is a skill like any other; you improve with practice! With very new students, we have a few tried and true beginner projects that slowly build on skill sets.  Once students have completed the first few easy projects, we allow them to choose from a progressively broader array of options.  For students with intermediate to advanced skills, the sky's the limit!

Fashion design and construction are popular options for experienced students!
