A Typical Day at HipStitch Camp:

9 AM: Students arrive. Any beginners (or those who just want a refresher course!) are given a brief introductory lesson to the sewing machine and how it works, then allowed to practice basic stitching.  They'll start with some simple projects like pillows, bags, and basic stuffed animals to improve their new skills and bolster their confidence! Students with prior sewing experience decide what their first project will be (either from their own imagination or with guidance from our curriculum sheet).
10:30 AM: Snack time.
12 PM: Lunch.
1 PM: Morning students depart. Any unfinished projects can be stored in our studio for safe keeping until the student's next visit!
1:30 PM: Afternoon students arrive. Another lesson is given for beginners.
3 PM: Afternoon snack.
4 PM: Full day students depart.
4:30 PM: Afternoon students depart. As students build on their sewing skills, we at HipStitch like to allow a good amount of freedom in the creative process. Our system has been likened to a "No Fail Curriculum" in schools.  Sewing is a skill like any other; you improve with practice! With very new students, we have a few tried and true beginner projects that slowly build on skill sets.  Once students have completed the first few easy projects, we allow them to choose from a progressively broader array of options.  For students with intermediate to advanced skills, the sky's the limit!
