Join us for a mini week of Fashion Design Camp.
Peek into the world of a professional Fashion Designer!
Starting ages 7 and up, Fashion Design is a course created by a Parsons School of Design Alumna, and is a perfect fit for students who:
- Have a some experience sewing
- Have a creative flair and a deep interest in the intricacies of fashion design
- Love drawing, collaging, sewing and want to challenge themselves creatively
- Are excited by a course that is half-theory, half-practice, and wholly fun!
Day 1: Ideation, we will begin by discussing the importance of mood boards for the creative process and gathering inspiration and play the "Why Do We Like?" game.
Ideation Cont'd, we will use camp time to work on mood boards, swatch fabrics, learn fashion vocabulary, and discuss how professional mood boards are put together. There will be a lecture/powerpoint and discussion about current Fashion Week trends and designers.
Day 2: Translation, we will put final touches on mood boards, and begin sketching looks. There will be a demo of how to sketch a croqui from scratch, and how to properly put together a technical flat sketch.
Creation, we will use camp time to choose a favorite design, take measurements and start working on patterns based on technical sketches. There will be a pattern-making demo at the beginning of class.
Day 3: Creation Cont'd, we will use camp time to finish patterns, cut fabric, and start sewing.
Day 4: Creation Cont'd, we will use class time to finish sewing.
Day 5. Complete sewing and finish garment and accessories.

Materials provided (Optional: if you have a specific fabric or material that you would like to use, you are welcome to bring it in!
The Fashion Design Camp meets for the week daily 9am-1pm the following weeks:
Monday June 3rd - Friday June 7th 2024 9.00am-1.00pm
Monday June 10th - Friday June 14th 2024 9.00am-1.00pm
Monday June 24th - Friday June 28th 2024 9.00am-1.00pm
Monday July 8th - Friday July 12th 2024 9.00am-1.00pm
Monday July 29th - Friday August 2nd 2024 9.00am-1.00pm
Monday August 12th - Friday August 16th 2024 9.00am-1.00pm
Each week is $650
Need a full day of camp for your child? Add on afternoon sewing camp for the whole week to extend your day until 4:00pm.
We need at least four sign ups to run our camps. If a camp does not receive four sign ups we will notify you will be refunded or moved to a different camp program or location.
No refunds will be given with less than 3 weeks notice.
