Join us for a week of Fashion Design Camp, and peek into the world of a professional Fashion Designer!
Starting ages 7 and up, Fashion Design is a course created by a Lasell University School of Design Alumna, and is a perfect fit for students who:
- Have basic experience sewing and/or took our camps for after school classes in the past
- Have a creative flair and a deep interest in the intricacies of fashion design
- Hope to someday attend a design school such as Parsons, RISD, MassArt,Lasell University etc.
- Love drawing, collaging, sewing and want to challenge themselves creatively
- Are excited by a course that is half-theory, half-practice, and fully fun!
Day 1- Ideation: we will begin by discussing the importance of mood boards for the creative process and gathering inspiration and play the "Why Do We Like?" game.
We will use camp time to work on mood boards, swatch fabrics, learn fashion vocabulary, and discuss how professional mood boards are put together.
We will present a tour of our studio manager, Amanda's professional fashion design website portfolio, curated with projects she completed while earning her Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design and Production at Lasell University.
Day 2- Translation: We will put final touches on mood boards, and begin pulling colors from their moodboards to make a color story. Then we will begin creating a customer profile to consider what their target audience is.
We will introduce "croquis" or fashion illustration templates for the kids to experiment on. We typically get the ideas flowing with a few timed sketches.
Day 3- Translation: We will take this day to create a detailed final illustration board with the collection your child designed based off of their mood board and color story.
Day 4- Creation: We will critique each others final collections, and then decide which outfit we will take inspiration from to create a garment that represents your child's collection while still being within their skill level. The kids will then be able to select their fabric choices and cut out their patterns.
Day 5- Creation: We will spend the day sewing our final projects and presenting our final looks to each other!
We need a minimum of 4 students to run the camp week.
If we don't have 4 students we will cancel the camp.
The Fashion Design Camp meets for the week daily 9am-1pm the following weeks:

The cost for each week of Fashion Design Summer Camp is $650
No refunds or makeups will be given with less than three weeks notice.
